Dear Parents of Campers with food allergies/intolerances,

We would like to bring to your attention a new policy change effective January 1st, 2024 regarding how food allergies/intolerances will be handled at Camp Selah.

Due to our inability to accommodate the overwhelming increase in food preferences, we will no longer allow campers to bring in outside food for the purpose of substituting meals.

Instead, Camp Selah Food Service Staff will now provide a gluten free/dairy free option at every meal for those with gluten and dairy allergies/intolerances. We must stress that this is reserved for campers/staff with legitimate allergies and intolerances, not for those who merely have particular food preferences.

It is of the utmost importance for parents of campers with moderate to severe food allergies to fully complete and submit the registration form at least 30 days prior to the camp date so that the Food Service Department can make the appropriate preparations.

This new policy will also be followed in the snack shack. No outside snacks will be kept in the snack shack. The snack shack does have gluten free/dairy free options available for purchase.

It is recommended for campers not to bring snacks from home in their baggage as snacks are not permitted in the cabins. If a camper receives snacks in the mail they will be asked to consume them outside during snack shack/free time or to leave their snack unopened.

We are happy to help answer any questions or to discuss any concerns you may have. Please feel free to email or call us.

Sincerely,

Mark Emmons

Administrative Director
